About Cynthia Bolin

Encaustic photomontage artist Cynthia Bolin creates images that invoke the dreamlike quality found in works of many of the Pre-Raphaelite artists. Like Burne-Jones and Waterhouse, common subjects in her work come from myths, legends, and poetry, but also more modern resources such as song lyrics and quotes. Her work invites the viewer to find personal meaning in archetypal symbols. In a world when we are often spoon-fed “facts,” finding meaning can be difficult. Bolin attempts to engage the viewer in discovering their own truths by looking within to answer deeper moral questions for themselves.
